Destinations Career Academy at ISPA
Your student can gain a competitive edge for the future—whether that includes college, a career, or both. The Destinations Career Academy at ISPA gives students the opportunity to explore career options and take part in specialized, career-related experiences. Students can choose from a broad range of courses in these career pathways: Accounting, Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Pharmacy Technician, and Programming and Gaming. They can also prepare to take industry-recognized certification exams upon graduation.*
In addition to the Destinations Career Academy at ISPA, there are two tuition-free pre-apprenticeship programs available to all eligible high school students in Pennsylvania, including ISPA students. Each program requires an in-person component where students gain workplace skills and career training.
The Association of Builders and Contractors (ABC) Keystone Pre-Apprenticeship Program is available to all ISPA students. Students can build skills and experience in fields including construction, electrical, HVAC, and more. Students receive 65 hours of in-person instruction, delivered by apprenticeship instructors, at one of the ABC training facilities across Pennsylvania. Completion of the program also includes the OSHA 10 Hour Certification.
The Advanced Manufacturing Pre-Apprenticeship Program of Pennsylvania College of Technology is available to students in grades 9–12. Students receive 100 hours of online instruction, work toward industry-recognized credentials, and build skills for careers in manufacturing such as machining, plastics, and even business. There are three to four days of in-person instruction required and students who complete the program will receive the:
ISPA students who complete either of these pre-apprenticeship programs are eligible to enroll in the ISPA Work Experience Program. The Work Experience Program allows students to receive high school credit while working in construction, manufacturing, and select other fields.
Students interested in either of these pre-apprenticeship programs or the Work Experience Program, should contact either Barry King, ISPA CTE Administrator (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Tracy Hockenberry, ISPA CTE Coordinator (email@example.com) for more information.

*Many Microsoft® Office certificates can be earned after completing one course. Other certificates require more classes to be better prepared, and students who attend Destinations for at least two years will have further exposure to career readiness education courses to be prepared for certification testing.
