Technical FAQs
Do I need to have access to a computer to attend?
Yes. To ensure you have the equipment you need for school, we provide each student a loaner laptop. These laptops are Insight PA Cyber Charter School (ISPA) instructional property and must be returned when the student leaves the school. ISPA highly recommends that families accept our loaner computer, as we are then able to assist with technical and software issues.
Students must have access to the internet to successfully complete their lessons. ISPA will reimburse families’ internet costs. Internet service provider (ISP) rebate checks are issued per household. Each family who submits the required documentation will receive their actual cost of internet up to, and not to exceed, $30 per month for each month their student attends ISPA. Families must submit proof of internet service twice per year in order to receive the ISP subsidy. Teachers will provide direction as to where to send this information. ISP subsidy checks are distributed within six weeks after the last day of the semester upon submission by the specific deadlines. For more information regarding internet reimbursement please visit the ISP Reimbursement page.
What computer skills are required?
The Learning Coach needs to have at least basic computer skills. Use of the computer is an important part of the online school program. In the elementary grades, it is mostly the Learning Coach who interacts with the computer. Middle school and high school students are most successful if they have basic computer skills.
